Protesters Display Signs and Emotions Outside Congressman's Office
Knox County Progressives and local Move-on members came together outside Congressman Bobby Schilling's office today in Galesburg.

One of those members was Joel Ward.

"The main reason we're doing this is to protest, I guess you could call it intransidence of the Republican Party and the Tea Party Minority in actually dealing with the issues of governing that have been going on in Washington," Ward says. "This invented crisis over the debt ceiling is the most egregious example of this that we've had to date. They literally held the country's economy hostage."

Schilling voted in favor of the new debt ceiling bill on Monday night, a bill that was passed by the Senate Tuesday and signed into law by President Obama.

Ward is unsure where this new bill will take the U-S.

The protesters left behind a self-issued "bill" for Schilling asking for a compromise with the residents of the 17th Congressional District.
