Unemployment Continues Movement Up Locally
The state of Illinois says local unemployment rates continue to improve -- and while that may be true on a year-over-year basis, month-over-month, it's not improvement.

The Illinois Department of Employment security says the July jobless rate for Knox County is now at eight-point-two percent -- up four-tenths from the month prior, but lower than last year.

For the City of Galesburg alone, the rate sits at eight-point-eight percent, also up four-tenths.

Warren County's jobless rate also went up four-tenths, to seven-point-nine percent.

The state combines Knox and Warren County's numbers in order to create a Galesburg-area unemployment rate. That's currently at eight-point-one percent.

In all of Knox County, 21-hundred are listed as unemployed, up about 100.

In all of Warren County, that figure is at 745, up about 30.

The numbers are not seasonally-adjusted. The Galesburg area saw year-over-year job gains in government jobs.
