DuQuoin State Fair Opens In Southern Illinois
DUQUOIN, Ill. (AP) -- The DuQuoin State Fair is under way in southern Illinois.

It's the first weekend of the fair that runs through Sept. 5.

Illinois has two official state fairs. The Illinois State Fair in Springfield wrapped up earlier this month.

The DuQuoin fair has a number of big acts scheduled for its grandstand. They include country's Josh Turner on Saturday, Southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd on Aug. 31 and country legend Willie Nelson on Sept. 2.

The fair also has harness racing and livestock exhibitions.

Other highlights of the fair include Democrat Day on Saturday and Republican Day on Tuesday. Democrat Pat Quinn plans to visit the fair over the weekend.
