45-Year Sentence For Chicago Man In Quincy Killing
QUINCY, Ill. (AP) -- A Chicago man has been sentenced to 45 years in prison in the shooting death of another man in the Mississippi River city of Quincy.

The Quincy Herald-Whig reports ( http://bit.ly/oAgARV) that Judge Scott Walden sentenced 29-year-old Phillip Diaz on Friday. Diaz pleaded guilty in May to first-degree murder in the May 2010 death of Ian Barksdale in a Quincy parking lot.

Judge Scott Walden called the crime ``a very cold-hearted act.'' Prosecutors asked for a 45-year sentence. Barksdale's attorney requested 25 years.

Diaz told the victim's relatives he regrets what he did and he hopes that ``will give the family some closure.''

Authorities say the shooting happened after the two men had an encounter at a nightclub where Barksdale worked.
