Teachers OK Deal, Students Back In Illinois School
GLASFORD, Ill. (AP) -- Teachers in a central Illinois school district have agreed to a new contract and students are back at school after a strike that extended their summer vacations.

The Journal Star newspaper in Peoria reports that the 61 members of the teachers union at Illini Bluffs School District in Glasford approved the deal Monday night. Glasford is about 15 miles southwest of Peoria.

The district's roughly 1,000 students went back to school Tuesday.

School was supposed to start Aug. 17. But teachers went on strike in a dispute over the district's plan to start random drug testing. Teachers had proposed for-cause testing.

Neither the school board nor teachers have said whether how the new contract handles drug testing.
