Schilling Speaks About Debt Ceiling Vote
Congressman Bobby Schilling says Republicans didn't get everything they wanted in the new debt deal, but he says they got about 75 percent.

The Colona Republican told the WGIL Morning News Thursday the debt deal was a game of chess, not checkers, but had he and other Republicans not been elected in the last year, President Obama would have had what he calls a two-point-four trillion dollar open checkbook to spend however he wants.

Schilling, a Republican says there's a detail of the deal he thinks is important, that you won't hear much about from the Rush Limbaughs of the world.

"This actually forces a vote for members of Congress and the Senate to go on record on a balanced budget amendment to the government constitution," Schilling says. "I think thats something huge and we haven't done that for 15 years now."

Schilling says the process was made difficult by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid not accepting any prior proposal that passed the U-S House. He says then the leaders had to do the best they can getting what was really important through, and trying to come up with a new deal.
