'Mom and Me' Camp with Prison Mothers in 10th Year
DECATUR, Ill. (AP) -- The Illinois Department of Corrections will host the 10th ``Mom and Me'' camp at two women's prisons next week.

The camp will be Sunday to Wednesday at the Lincoln and Decatur correctional centers.

Children get to spend extended time with their incarcerated mothers in activities supervised by volunteers. Activities include playing games, making crafts and quiet time.

The late chaplain Laurie Tockey at Lincoln Correctional Center devised the program after he saw the impact on children of seeing their mothers only a short time and sharing that time with other adults.

Forty-seven volunteers will help bring 26 children together with 18 mothers this year. The faith-based program is paid for with private donations.
