Aledo Man Pleades Guilty to Hunting Violations
ALEDO, Ill. (AP) -- A western Illinois man has been fined $18,000 for misdemeanor hunting violations.

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources says conservation police investigated 24-year-old James Gauley of Aledo after receiving an anonymous tip. Gauley pleaded guilty to 27 misdemeanors.

The Mercer County state's attorney's office says those charges included illegally taking deer, illegally taking a wild turkey and possessing a great blue heron, which is a protected species.

Prosecutors also say Gauley unlawfully hunted when he used an ATV to continually run over a deer until it died. The charges range from 2008 to 2010.

A court order also found that Gauley cannot hunt for 15 years.
