Patriotism Burns through Lincoln Park
One hundred eighty five motor cyclists sent chills down the backs of all those in attendance for Purple Heart Day at Lincoln Park in Galesburg.

Riders representing different clubs wrapped around the Veterans Memorial at a slow and climatic pace to honor Vets and those with Purple Hearts.

North Pekin man Bill Martin says he came out because he loves to ride and support his military whenever possible.

He says back in the day he would keep his own war experience a secret.

"I'd come home and I was a Vietnam Vet and I wouldn't tell nobody for years, you come home from Vietnam you just keep your mouth shut," Martin says. "Nobody wanted to hear about it, nobody wanted to hear about the war, nobody liked the war, I didn't like the war either."

Martin appreciates how the tune has changed and Americans are constantly honoring their troops.

He says it's easy to forget about those in uniform when the wars are over.

When asked what kind of bike he rides, Martin told WGIL, "I fight for my country, I ride a Harley."

He didn't hesitate to add he had a BMW in the garage.
