Low Agenda for School Despite Teachers' Contract Issues
It might be an easy night for the Galesburg School Board Monday night, despite some important issues hanging over their heads.

There are no major items up for a vote at the District-205's monthly board meeting tonight, outside of items that would be considered routine, like the district's personnel agenda.

The board's meeting Monday comes just 11 days before a contract with the district's teachers union, the Galesburg Education Association, expires.

Union officials claim they've only met three times with the school board since requesting negotiations back in March.

The district, however, claims meetings are scheduled this week and next, including one on August 19th, the day the contract expires.

The G-E-A meets Wednesday afternoon.

Meanwhile, the district-205 board tonight will hear about academic and attendance progress. The attendance figures to be discussed will come just a year after implementing a new anti-truancy policy, and attendance growth is expected to hit targets.

The Galesburg School Board meets at seven o'clock Monday night at Lincoln School.
