Juveniles Arrested for Car Thefts
Two juveniles are in Galesburg Police custody after a string of suspected car thefts Monday morning. At least 15 burglaries were reported to police since 7am Monday.

Items stolen were valued over a thousand dollars. They included jewelry, cell phones, stereos, and other small electronics.

The two juveniles were both arrested and charged with burglary from a motor vehicle yesterday morning.

Police say they were able to capture the two juveniles after a tip from a witness.

They reviewed surveillance video at Woodland Bend -- the former Iowa Court housing complex -- around 8:30 Monday morning, and were able to locate the juveniles entering the back of a Michigan Ave. apartment.

During police interviews one of the juveniles said they needed money, and would rather steal than wait to get a job.

Both are currently detained at the Mary Davis Home.
