| Queens Crowned as Knox County Fair Begins |
What you could consider to be the kickoff to the Knox County Fair has officially taken place. The annual Knox County Fair crowned three new queens Sunday night -- chief among them, 17-year old Galesburg Resident Kylie Cullett was crowned Miss Knox County. Cullett tells WGIL she was also a Junior and Little Miss Knox County Fair, and that experience helped.
"Going in I was confident, but still unsure," she says. "This turned out the best."
Cullett says there are a number of ways being in pageant competitions can help you.
"It's really good with evolving yourself and your new speaking skills, communication skills, and things like that," Cullett says. "I think it's just a great opportunity to take up."
13-year old Karyssa Pedersen of Abingdon took the Junior Miss Knox County Fair crown, while 6-year old Makaiha Moore of Knoxville became Little Miss Knox County Fair. The Knox County Fair starts with events tomorrow on the fairgrounds in Knoxville, and officials are exercising caution because of the heat.
