New Chamber President Named as Current President Retires
The Galesburg-Area Chamber of Commerce has named a new president.

Chamber board chairperson Steve McKelvie says that the board has hired Steven Brody of Wisconsin to take over for the retiring Bob Maus. Brody will start Monday.

As part of the interview process, Brody got the chance to meet with the Galesburg Downtown Council and the Galesburg Business Association.

WGIL asked McKelvie if that was an important part of the interview process.

"It wasn't necessarily crucial to our selection of him as our new president, but we wanted to give him the opportunity to meet with who he would be dealing with from other organizations that are in town," McKelvie said. "We all work so closely."

McKelvie says Brody's background in government, public, and community relations will help bring, in his words, fresh ideas to the Chamber.

An open house marking the retirement of Maus is scheduled for Friday afternoon from four to six at the Galesburg Commerce Center at Kellogg and Tompkins Streets.

Maus first announced back in April he'd be retiring in July after 18 years, but stayed on a little while longer owing to the search for his replacement.
