Mercer County Part of Sale of Champions
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- The award-winning steer and barrow shown by two Illinois teens will be auctioned off this week at the Illinois State Fair.

Officials say the Governor's Sale of Champions starts Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

A.J. Line's crossbred steer was selected as the grand champion of the 2012 Illinois State Fair in the steer category. The Seaton teen says her prize money will go toward college and next year's steer.

Bonfield resident Trey Fecke's crossbred barrow was also chosen as a grand champion and will be sold at auction. Fecke says meeting new people and making new friends is his favorite part of the competition.
