D. 205 Board Looks at Steele School Plans Monday
Another piece of the puzzle in the Galesburg School District's Master Facilities Plan is before the District-205 School Board Monday night.

The board Monday evening will vote on the construction drawings for work to be done at Steele Elementary School, which would then allow bids to be solicited for the work.

Roughly $4.7 million worth of work will be considered in the second part, including improvements to both the classrooms in the building, and the entrance on the outside.

District officials say there's roughly $250,000 in contingency money included in the budget for Steele, and they've said that if none of that money is used for emergency purposes, that could be allowed to be spent on some alternate items -- namely, skylights and some other needs.

The District-205 board Monday will also consider the proposed merger of the Western Big 6 athletic conference for football games. Four Peoria schools would be added to the conference, which also would result in the adjustment to the schools' non-conference games.

The Galesburg School Board meets at seven o'clock Monday night at Lincoln School.
