Car Cruise Takes Over Downtown Galesburg
Hundreds of classic, vintage, and restored cars should take over virtually every parking spot in a part of downtown Galesburg starting around lunch time Friday, but for what has become very quickly an annual event.

The annual River 2 River Car Cruise doesn't start until 4pm, but organizer and former Galesburg City Manager Gary Goddard says cars will start lining East Main Street from the Public Square east to Seminary Street starting during the lunch hour.

Goddard tells the WGIL Morning News groups from all over will bring their rides.

"I've heard from the Quad City Cruisers; they're planning on attending. I heard from a group in Peoria, and they plan on attending," Goddard said. "We get car clubs and car groups from all over, and plus just individuals bringing out their car."

Goddard says it's not necessarily about bring out your award-winning classic car -- just one that you take pride in.

Admission into the River 2 River Car Cruise is free, but food will be for sale.

At one point in history, over 900 cars were in attendance.
