Civil War Revisited in Galseburg
The Civil War is once again making a comeback in Galesburg.

The 18th annual Galesburg Heritage Days celebration is underway at Lake Storey in Galesburg, running through Sunday. Historical demonstrations, battle simulations, and a large number of activities will continue through the weekend.

Glenn Busse is helping organize this year's event, and tells WGIL Heritage Days is not all Civil War -- some of it has to do with the Rendezvous period.

"Half of it is pre-1840's; the other half is the Civil War," Busse said. "So, when we have our meetings, we're talking about the Civil War side, or the Rendezvous side-type of situation. But we do get along with each other."

The Rendezvous period is described as having "mountain men." But Busse says some participants in Heritage Days even choose to go all the way back to the Revolutionary War period. He describes the Rendezvous camp as being more encompassiong than the Civil War side.

Food will be available for sale, among other things during the weekend of Heritage Days.
