Teen Accused of Leading Police Chase Pleads Not Guilty
A teenager from the Peoria area has pleaded not guilty to his role in a chase earlier this month that resulted in a Knox County Sheriffs Deputy getting put on paid administrative leave.

Knox County Circuit Court records indicate 17-year old Isaiah Royer made the plea Thursday during an arraignment hearing on charges of Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding, and Criminal Trespass to Property. Royer was originally arrested on six different felony charges.

Knox County Sheriffs Deputies gave chase to Royer August 3rd, after being alerted he was headed their way on Interstate 74 from Peoria County, where cops chased him at speeds of over 100 miles per hour.

Royer at one point ended up on Knox County Highway 9 and into East Galesburg, where it stopped on the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad tracks. This, after a Knox County Sheriffs Deputy fired at Royer's vehicle after it tried to exit I-74 at Knoxville.

Royer asked for a trial by jury during the hearing Thusday as well, and was given a November court date for a pre-trial conference.

The Sheriffs Deputy who is believed to have shot at Royer's vehicle has been on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of State Police and Sheriffs Department investigations.

It's not clear if that investigation is through.
