Athletic Facilities Next Under Master Facilities Plan
To hear some of the coaches at Galesburg High School tell it, it's about time athletic facilities got some major league attention.

The District-205 Master Facilities Plan Implementation Committee met with coaches and athletes throughout the day Saturday to get their feedback on what will be part of 15 million dollars worth of improvements to Galesburg High School -- specifically new athletic fields, a multi-purpose fieldhouse, and other items.

Galesburg High School boys track coach Craig Hillier tells WGIL his program's facilities are well past due for a makeover.

"We practice on, I know it's the worst facility in the Western Big 6 unfortunately. We just want to make sure it gets done right, so we can host meets here, host sectionals here, and have our athletes train in a safe environment where they aren't going to get injured."

Hillier says it's just as important for coaches to look out for other athletic programs as well, from football to cheerleading.

This was the first meeting in a series of meetings as part of the "schematic design" process for the proposed GHS upgrades.
