Business Reports Thousands in Cell Phones Stolen
FIRST REPORTED 3:00pm 8/2/12 Galesburg police are reporting the theft of thousands of dollars in cellular phones from a store, and the owner thinks it's an inside job.

Police reports indicate officers talked with the owner of Cellular Connection on North Henderson Street around 10 o'clock Wednesday morning.

43-year old Alan Hon of Moline told officers that the suspected thefts of what he called "high-end" cell phones has been going on since at least May.

Hon told officers he believes two employees have been purchasing used cell phones from a California-based company, selling them, then taking the others.

Phones Hon claims are stolen include 9 different iPhones, and three Samsung Galaxy phones. All told, police reports estimate over $7,000 worth of phones have ended up gone.

Police have interviewed one of two people Hon suspected of committing the crime, but so far, no one is in custody.

An investigation into the matter continues.
