Two Arrests Made in Mulberry Street Murder, Possible Monmouth Connection
RE-POSTED 5:50pm 8/29/12 Two arrests have been made in connection with a fatal shooting late Monday night on Mulberry Street in Galesburg.

Galesburg Police say 30-year old Jereme Carter of Monmouth, and 33-year old Barry Fletcher of Galesburg, have each been arrested on three-counts of First-Degree Murder. Police did not provide details of when or where the arrests occurred, nor any other circumstances. Monmouth police say Carter was arrested around 8am Wednesday during a traffic stop on U.S. 34 and East 11th Street.

The two are accused of shooting and killing 38-year old Terrell Allen around 11 o'clock Monday night outside 1042 Mulberry Street in Galesburg. Allen was found there with multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Carter is being held in the Knox County Jail on $1 million bond. Fletcher is jailed on $750,000 bond, and are expected to make their first appearances in court soon.

A motive for the Galesburg shootings isn't clear.

Meantime, Feithen says his officers responded to a shots fired call at Carter's South 8th Street address in Monmouth early Tuesday, about four hours after the Galesburg shooting.

Feithen says someone fired shots at a car parked in the driveway. An investigation into that shooting incident is continuing, and Feithen says he'll release no other details except that there were no injuries.
