State police Urge Caution for Labor Day Weekend
You should not be anyway, but the Illinois State Police says since it is a holiday, they will be out looking for bad drivers throughout Labor Day weekend.

Troopers statewid, and including District 7 based in East Moline which covers Knox County, will be out in force Labor Day wekeend, making sure people do not do things that Trooper Jason Wilson says many seem to think is more acceptable during a holiday weekend.

Wilson tells WGIL troopers will look for bad drivers through a number of means.

"At a constant throughout the entire weekend they will be doing special details, not only the roadsides and the alcohol counter measurement enforcement details, they will just be doing regular speed details, they will be focusing certain areas on seat belts, and that's going to be twenty four hours a day throughout the entire weekend and actually kind of every day throughout the year we try to do that, but a major focus this weekend"

Wilson says text messaging is especially bad because despite state law, more and more people seem to be doing the very dangerous form of distracted driving.

He also encourages parents to try and keep their eyes on the road, because distracted driving also can mean turning your head to find out what your kids are doing.
