Knoxville Athletic Complex Dedicated
Friday may be called the kickoff of the newest addition to the Knoxville School District.

Even though a track meet and a freshman football game have already been played at the new Knoxville High School athletic complex, it will formally be dedicated Friday, as the Blue Bullets take on North Fulton.

District-202 Superintendent Steve Wilder tells WGIL the community should truly be proud of the new digs.

"I can't put into words what this really means to our school district. For me personally, still a little bit of anxiety right now making the final preparations, but equally a lot of excitement as well. This has been a great project, the community has gotten behind it and been involved in the project. Really looking forward to having that facility open, looking forward to a big crowd and really celebrating the completion of the project."

Almost, Wilder says, because there are still some minor things to be done, like painting and other needs, but he calls it 99 percent complete.

Primarily volunteer labor put the new stadium near Knoxville Junior High School.
