New Hotel Possible for Galesburg
The newest occupant of the area around the Seminary Square Shopping Center in Galesburg could be a hotel.

That's according to the City of Galesburg. Mayor Sal Garza announced through a news release late yesterday afternoon that a Quad Cities development firm wants to have some of the land west of the entrance to Seminary Square re-zoned either B-2 Business, or R-2 Two Family Residential.

The firm is RDC Hotel Solutions based in the Quad Cities, part of the Raufeisen Development company.

The company is described as one that collaborates on various real estate development and building ownership efforts, among others.

Garza says in the news release that companies like RDC should be challenging themselves to sign on to development projects like this despite whatever the economic climate.

The mayor praised the city's economic development team, and says he's encouraged by their work.

The Galesburg Planning and Zoning Commission will consider the zoning change September 18, and if approved, the City Council will take it up, likely October 1.
