Discovery Depot Names New Executive Director
The person who's been in charge of a local museum for the last few months gets to take the job permanently.

Discovery Depot Childrens Museum announced Monday that Galesburg's Denise Bradburn has been hired as the new Executive Director. She's been on the job on an interim basis since June, replacing Matt Warnsing, whose reason for departure isn't known.

Discovery Depot board president Dave Rasmussen tells WGIL there have been no problems in the transition.

"Denise has just jumped right in, and things have been going well," Rasmussen said.

Rasmussen says Bradburn was the right person for the job, given that she's helped out with Discovery Depot over the last eight years, and has been on its board.

"She's been involved with things that we've got going on in the future, and also our past history, so that definitely made a little difference," Rasmussen said.

Bradburn tells WGIL that passion and interest led her to want the executive director job.

"I've always had a great passion for Discovery Depot," Bradburn said. "I believe in its mission here in Galesburg, and its vision for the future. I believe it's an asset to our town, to have this children's museum here."

Bradburn and Rasmussen both alluded to improvements in the offing both inside and outside the museum, but they declined to talk about just what those would be.
