Lot's of Cash Stolen from HyVee Registers
A heap of twenty-dollar bills went missing from two Galesburg HyVee cash registers Saturday afternoon.

A police report indicates the East Main Street store was robbed of $1,220-dollars at the customer service counter shortly after 3pm. Surveillance video shows an older woman, accompanied by another man, reached over twice and grabbed sixty-one total twenties from two registers.

Police say the 18-year-old HyVee employee had been making change for the suspects at another register when the suspected theft occurred. She tells police she saw the woman put her hand in the '20's' slot of the cash drawer, and fan the collection of bills.

However the employee says she didn't think any money was taken either time. Police also say the employee admitted not noticing over a thousand dollars in twenty-dollar bills were missing from the two drawers. Management confirmed the shortage at close Saturday evening.

Authorities are searching for the two suspects, whom are both of Hispanic backgrounds. They say the woman was last wearing a white shirt, dark pants, and a hat with long brown hair to her buttocks. The man wore a black hat and shirt.

If you have any further information please contact the Galesburg Police Department or the Galesburg-Area Crimestoppers Hotline.
