| Women's Opportunity Network Event Tonight |
If you have ever entered a room full of strangers and found yourself intimidated at the prospect of networking, please join the Women's Opportunity Network (WON) for an "Afterhours" on September 10, featuring Michelle Shawgo, Director of the Wackerle Career Development Program, who will be presenting on networking.
Michelle will share with us the etiquette of networking. Learn how to start a conversation or join one so the next time you walk into a room of strangers you can confidently meet people and make a positive impact. After the presentation there will be time to practice networking with other professional women from West-Central Illinois.
Prairie Tech Learning Center Director and WON organizer, Linda Lee Blaine, stated, "Networking can mean the difference between a successful business and a failure. You don't know who will give you a great idea or introduce you to your next big client. Networking is as important in today's workplace as computer skills."
This presentation on network is sponsored by the Women’s Opportunity Network (WON), which is an initiative of Prairie Tech Learning Center and the Western Illinois Economic Development Partnership (WIEDP). The WON programs scheduled for the next two years are supported by a Community Action grant from the American Association of University Women.
The goal of WON is to provide educational and networking opportunities for professional women in west-central Illinois. The advisory council for WON believes that providing these kinds of opportunities will encourage women to form beneficial relationships and be more successful in their careers.
The WON Afterhours on networking will be held at Cloud Nine at the Monmouth Country Club, on September 10th from 5p.m. to 7 p.m., with the presentation lasting from 5:30p.m. to 6:00p.m. The cost is $10 and includes appetizers. There will be a cash bar available. The afterhours event is open to the public and anyone interested in being a part of WON activities in encouraged to attend. To make reservations, please contact Linda Lee Blaine at Prairie Tech Learning Center at 309-734-1068 or llblaine@wiedp.org.
