Rep. Moffitt's Son Coming Home Today from Afghanistan
Officials are asking for yet another hero's welcome for yet another local soldier who's taking some time to rest at home while serving in the war on terror -- but this one has a bit of a special meaning.

Dave Greenlief with the local Family Readiness Group says Tech Sergeant Justin Moffitt has been stateside for a few days now and will be back in Knox County this afternoon. If that name sounds familiar, he's the son of Carolyn and State Representative Don Moffitt. Sergeant Moffitt serves with the 182nd Airlift Wing based in Peoria, and his unit was re-deployed this past May to Afghanistan.

Greenlief says Moffitt will arrive at the Peoria airport around two o'clock this afternoon, at which time he'll be greeted by friends, family, and the Patriot Guard Riders, who will give him an escort down Interstate 74 to Knoxville.

After passing by the Knoxville Fire Station around 3:15 where he's a volunteer firefighter, Greenlief says the Moffitt caravan will get back on I-74 to the short trip back to Galesburg and to the Central Fire Station, where he's a full time firefighter as well.

Greenlief says anyone who has the time should gather along the caravan route with signs and American flags welcoming Moffitt home.

Greenlief asks, however, for people not to stop along the interstate or on areas where parking is prohibited, be patient, and line the route, not follow the caravan.
