Senators Wanting Senate to Come Back to Session
Let's get it done! That's the message Friday from Illinois Senate Republicans, as well as several Senate Democrats.

At issue are an ethics bill, and the replacement of money for state parks, historic sites, and social service agencies. Hundreds of positions were cut by Gov. Rod Blagojevich, who claimed that lawmakers didn't put enough money in this year's budget to keep all the workers.

State Senator Terry Link (D-Vernon Hills) says he and some of his colleagues have asked Senate President Emil Jones (D-Chicago) to call the Senate back into session soon, so that layoffs can be averted. Republicans are going one step further, saying waiting until the November Veto Session is tempting a lawsuit, since there's no clear answer on whether a 15-day time limit for a vote starts when the bill reaches the Senate, or starts when the Senate has its next session day.

Senate Minority Leader Frank Watson (R-Greenville) has harsh words for Jones. "It's almost arrogant that the Senate President Emil Jones is willing to do this," he said. "It's outrageous. It's just totally unacceptable."
