Monmouth Alderman Resigns
A Monmouth alderman who's served the city for many years is giving up his post.

First Ward Alderman Dave Giles toward the end of Monday night's city council meeting told his colleagues he was resigning, effective Tuesday, because he's moving out of the ward. Giles has served on the city council since April of 2001. The council unanimously accepted Giles' resignation, with regret.

Mayor Rod Davies says Giles did an outstanding job.

"Dave has always been very involved and very engaged in community development areas. Anything that affects the young people in the community, the elderly, (the) disadvantaged...(he is) always very interested in community service things. We will certainly miss his involvement in his years in the school district and park district and another of other service areas."

Giles served as the city's Community Development Committee chairman.

Davies says the plan is to have an appointment to present to the city council for its approval at the next meeting.
