No More Jail Time for Admitted Sex Offender
A Galesburg resident is essentially out of custody for a sex crime he's accused of committing.

29-year old Adam Schultz was in Knox County Circuit Court Thursday for a sentencing hearing. Schultz faced a felony charge of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, and a misdemeanor count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Knox County Court records indicate Schultz has been sentenced to 180 days in the Knox County Jail with 180 days already served.

The records also show that Schultz received 2 years probation, is not allowed to have any contact with the victim, her mother, or anyone under the age of 18. Schultz pleaded guilty in July to aggravated criminal sexual abuse, with the charge of delivery of alcohol to a minor dropped in exchange for his guilty plea.

Schultz was arrested in early April, after the 16-year-old girl's mother told police she believed her daughter was at a Fremont Street apartment with him. Both the girl and Schultz admitted to having sexual contact, but that it was consensual.
