"Doggie Jog" Today at Hawthorne Center
There's a pretty good chance there will be a lot of extra sets of legs walking around the Hawthorne Center today.

That's because the Knox County Humane Society and its Prairieland Animal Welfare Center are hosting their 16th Annual Doggie Jog at the Hawthorne Center.

Humane Society Board Member Erin Buckmaster tells WGIL it's more than just a lot of people, a lot of dogs, and a lot of leashes going for a walk around the Hawthorne Center. "We have contests that go on," Buckmaster said. "If you can believe it, we have an Ugliest Dog Contest. Honestly, there are no ugly dogs. I think they're all adorable. Then we have the Biggest Dog, and we have the Smallest Dog, then we have the Owner Look-Alike."

Buckmaster says that's where owners are encouraged to dress up and look like their pets.

Registration for the Doggie Jog starts at 11 am, and the jog itself starts at noon. All proceeds benefit the Prairieland Animal Welfare Center and the animals it's currently housing.
