Galesburg Clean-up Days Underway
It's clean-up days this week in the city of Galesburg.

City officials say there is no limit on the size or quantity of household items residents want to get rid of. Items must be placed curbside on residents' regular solid waste pick-up days.

Officials say yard waste still has to be prepared correctly in order for it to be picked up. In addition, appliances must have their doors removed, and appliances filled with loose trash won't be picked up.

The city will also not pick up liquid paint, tires, propane tanks, automobile batteries, motor oil or demolition waste. Officials say common sense should be used when placing refuse at the curb, like bagging loose trash or placing it in a garbage can. In addition, cardboard boxes are not to be used to hold loose trash.

And, officials say people bringing in waste from out of town for pick-up can be fined, and local residents who see it going on should contact the Galesburg police department at 343-9151.
