Dispute in Galesburg Injures One, Sends One to Jail
A local woman is facing a preliminary felony charge stemming from an altercation in Galesburg that left another woman injured.

A report from Galesburg police says 18-year old Ashley Wilmoth was arrested for aggravated battery in a public place and mob action after she and another 18-year old female allegedly beat up a 21-year old Knoxville woman around 10:30 Tuesday night.

The report says officers responded to a battery victim in the area of Laurel Avenue and North West Street. Paramedics reportedly told police that the victim had a swollen middle finger on her left hand, bruises on the right side of her face, a chunk of hair missing and puncture wounds behind her ear from earrings poking her.

Authorities say the victim reported that Wilmoth grabbed her hair and held her down, while another woman kicked her in the face. The woman who was hurt was taken to OSF St Mary Medical Center for treatment.

While being questioned by police, Wilmoth accused the victim of taking money from her mother, and she denied that a fight involving her had taken place. Wilmoth was booked into the Knox County Jail on the aggravated battery count, and on a separate preliminary charge of mob action.

Police are still trying to locate the other 18-year old woman allegedly involved in the incident.
