United Way Campaign Officially Underway
Officials are hoping Knox County residents are once again in the giving spirit despite a lot of negative factors that might make them feel otherwise.

The passage of Labor Day marks the official start of the Knox County United Way's annual fundraising campaign. The United Way has already been actively seeking donations from local businesses through their annual "Pacesetter" campaign, and are now taking their efforts to all the public.

Galesburg City Treasurer Marv Dahlberg is a Co-Chair of this year's campaign, and tells WGIL if you usually think about giving money to, say, one local charitable organization, it's usually a better to give to, really, all of them at once. "It's hit or miss, in terms of 'maybe I'm not home when the Boys and Girls Club calls,' or, 'maybe I'm out of town when the Discovery Depot has their campaign,'" Dahlberg said. "By giving to the United Way, you're reaching all of them."

Dahlberg says the goal this year is 360-thousand dollars, but he says he'd be much happier if, and he won't rest until, the totals far surpassed that.
