Illinois GOP Hopes Palin Fever = $$$
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's already making an impact on Illinois Republican politics. It looks like some money might be rolling in, now that a woman's on the ticket with presidential candidate John McCain.

Bill Strong, the finance chairman for the Illinois for McCain campaign, reports that his phone's been ringing lately, and it's because of Palin. At the Illinois delegation breakfast Thursday morning at the Republican National Convention in Minnesota, Strong told the crowd that "Friday afternoon, I got three incoming telephone calls from female executives in Chicago who I really don't know that well, who called to see if they could give money specifically as a result of Palin being put on the ticket."

Other Republicans say they're not surprised that Palin's appealing to women, but say she's just as much an impressive candidate to men. Outgoing Republican National Committee member Mary Jo Arndt says the Illinois GOP is now going to reach out to women, Independents, and Democrats because she thinks Palin's nomination is opening up the party to those groups.
