Computer/Internet Business Owner to Run for Galesburg Mayor
Galesburg now officially has its second candidate for Mayor.

28-year old Nathan Rockhold announced on his personal website earlier this week he's running for Galesburg Mayor.

Rockhold is president of the computer company R-Cubed Technologies, started after the Galesburg Maytag plant closure several years ago. Rockhold says in his announcement that he believes the community is "full of old ideas" that are keeping the local economy stagnant and not ready for growth, and he says he wants to change that.

He says that as a businessman, he always has to think outside the box, and that he wants to bring Galesburg back to the type of community that is not afraid to grow and change.

Rockhold's statement says, "With the current state of the economy and the immanent perpetual stagnation of the current polices of the Governing bodies of Galesburg it is truly time for change."

Rockhold will be running against former Maytag employee and current official with the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, Sal Garza, who says he will formally announce his candidacy this month.

Incumbent Mayor Gary Smith has not said if he'll seek another term.
