High-Speed Chase Leads to Arrest of Galesburg Man
A Galesburg man is behind bars after leading police on a high speed chase at times late Friday afternoon.

Galesburg Police reports indicate officers seeing a red car driving at a high rate of speed just after 4:30pm Friday on to Knox Street from Michigan Avenue. Officers say they followed the car as it continued to pick up speed at times, almost caused several accidents, went through at least two parking lots, and ended up traveling 60 miles per hour down part of Grand Avenue where it struck a car and eventually drove through another parking lot.

Police say 36-year old Anthony Agans eventually got out of the car and fled on foot, and officers eventually caught him at Chamberlain and Pine Streets.

Agans was arrested and charged with warrants from Knox and Cook Counties, along with Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Resisting a Peace Officer, Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding, Speeding, and several other traffic offenses.

The owner of, and passenger in, that vehicle, 36-year old Kandi Tucker, was arrested on a charge of permitting an unauthorized person to drive.

Both were taken to the Knox County Jail. Agans told officers he had been using methamphetamine, hadn't had any for four days, and was trying to get more.
