New U of I Trustees Board to Meet Thursday
URBANA, Ill. (AP) -- Seven new members of the University of Illinois board of trustees will take their places Thursday and begin trying to help dig the school out of its admissions scandal.

Trustees will meet in Urbana. It is the first meeting of the board that governs the three University of Illinois campuses since seven trustees resigned over the summer.

The resignations followed news reports that the university's Urbana-Champaign campus closely tracked the applications of politically connected applicants and admitted some to the school in spite of lackluster credentials.

Trustees likely will only begin their work Thursday, including evaluating the roles of university President B. Joseph white and Chancellor Richard Herman in the admissions problems.
