Quinn Gets More Union Backing in Election Bid
CHICAGO (AP) -- Another big union is endorsing Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn.

Quinn on Monday picked up the backing of the Service Employees International Union's Illinois Council.

Union President Tom Balanoff praised Quinn for his long career advocating for working families, including his creation of the Citizens Utility Board watchdog group.

The SEIU Illinois Council's support is the second major union endorsement for Quinn as he seeks a full term in the governor's office. Teamsters Joint Council endorsed him earlier, giving Quinn the backing of the state's two largest unions.

Officials with SEIU Illinois Council and Teamsters Joint Council say they plan to work together to help Quinn.

The Democrat says he's grateful for their support and he believes Illinois can create a budget that's fair to working families.

SEIU has 180,000 Illinois members, while the Teamsters represents 270,000 workers.
