Illinois Lt. Governor Candidate Visits Galesburg
The Chicago businessman who claims he started a protest effort to try to get now-former Governor Rod Blagojevich to resign wants to be the state's second-in-command.

Democrat Scott Lee Cohen made a stop on what he calls a "listening tour" in Galesburg this week. Cohen operates a distributorship of green cleaning supplies and says he's the best candidate for the job of Lieutenant Governor because of all his life experiences.

Cohen tells W-G-I-L he sees the office as an administrative office as much as it is an elected one, and he'll treat it that way if elected.

"I plan to be the liaison between the communities, communities such as (Galesburg) and the state government. I want to work to bring industry and small business and manufacturing back to Illinois, and unfortunately nobody at the state level is working with the communities to do that."

Cohen says he wants to help local communities improve education -- and teach students community and civic responsibility, in addition to skills to help them land a job.

Cohen is one of six Democrats and five Republicans looking to become Lieutenant Governor, a full list of which you can find at www.wgil.com/localnews.php?xnewsaction=fullnews&newsarch=092009&newsid=365.

Cohen is so far the first lieutenant governor candidate to visit Galesburg.
