Work Scheduled on I-74 and U.S. Route 34 Near Galesburg Next Week
Motorists who usually drive Interstate 74 and U.S. Route 34 in and around Galesburg will face delays next week in those areas because of work that's scheduled to begin on Monday.

The Illinois Department of Transportation says motorists can expect approximately 20 minute stoppages on westbound I-74 during the afternoon hours on Monday abd Tuesday (September 21st and 22nd) near the U..S Route 34 interchange, about two miles north of Galesburg. The ramp from eastbound U.S. Route 34 to westbound I-74 will be closed in the afternoon those two days.

In addition, motorists can expect approximately 20 minute stoppages on eastbound I-74 during the afternoon hours on Wednesday and Thursday (September 23rd and 24th). The ramp from westbound U.S. Route 34 to eastbound I-74 will be closed in the afternoon on those two days.

The scheduled work involves placement of new structural steel on the U.S. Route 34 bridge over I-74.

Motorists should plan accordingly, IDOT urges the use of extreme caution while driving through all work zones.
