Weekend Fire Damages Galesburg Home
A weekend fire in Galesburg has left a Galesburg family's home severely damaged.

Galesburg Fire Department Battalion Chief Chip Timmons says crews responded to the residential fire at 997 Accommodation Street around 12 p-m Sunday. The home is located on the south side of the former Butler Manufacturing plant along railroad tracks.

Timmons says firefighters arrived to find fire on the first and second levels of the house - flames were on the second-floor ceiling and in the dining room area on the first-floor. He says crews put the fire out in about an hour.

Timmons says all station firefighters responded to the blaze and five off-duty firefighters were called in to the fire station for stand-by.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Timmons says there were no injuries.
