Galesburg City Council and District 205 School Board Schedule Special Monday Night Meetings
The two main governing bodies in the City of Galesburg will both hold special meetings Monday night.

The Galesburg City Council has called a special meeting to take up two issues with the ongoing construction of the city's new water plant.

For one, aldermen are being asked to approve the purchase of two property easements in the Oquawka area that will allow for the pipelines connecting the new plant to the existing pipeline. The city says that will save money in the long run.

The city says the other issue they want aldermen to approve is four different change orders for the plant -- one of them the city says will be needed once the easements are approved and will cost the city an extra $373,000 on the nearly $20 million project.

The Galesburg School Board also holds a special meeting Monday night. Expulsion hearings are on the agenda, along with the presentation of a report on the salaries of the district's administrators, ahead of an October 1st deadline requiring local school districts to post those numbers on their websites.

The figures, however, have always been matters of public record.

The Galesburg City Council meets at 5:30 at City Hall, while the Galesburg School Board meets at 6:00.
