Illinois Secretary of State White Announces Re-election Bid
UPDATED 11:14 a-m 9/29/9 CHICAGO (AP) -- Secretary of State Jesse White has kicked off his campaign for a fourth term in office.

The Democrat made his announcement Tuesday in Chicago, the first stop in a three-city, flyaround of the state. The other stops are in Springfield and Marion.

The 75-year old White was first elected in 1998.

He's running on his accomplishments in office, which include pushing to strengthen teen driving laws and cracking down on distracted drivers.

Aurora businessman Robert Enriquez is running in the Republican primary for the secretary of state post. The Illinois Republican Party says Enriquez is a former U.S. Marine who wants to use his business acumen to improve the office.

The secretary of state oversees drivers license facilities and other state-related paperwork.
