Durbin Still Talking Health Care Reform
An Illinois senator is speaking with doctors, patients, nurses and small business owners about health care reform.

U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) met with a group at Loyola University Medical Center Monday in Maywood . "Reform means that the insurance companies will be prohibited from refusing you coverage because you have a pre-existing condition," Durbin said. "It means that key preventative care such as regular checkups and tests that help prevent illness will be free."

According to Durbin's office health care premiums in Illinois have jumped 73 percent over the last eight years. The average annual premium for family coverage is roughly $12,500.

Doctors and nurses urged Durbin to bring hospitals into the future with modern and uniform billing standards.
