Quinn Fills Five U of I Trustee Spots
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) -- Gov. Pat Quinn says the five University of Illinois graduates he's named to fill the openings on the school's board of trustees know firsthand how important the university is.

Quinn named former Springfield Mayor Karen Hasara, Rockford physician Timothy Koritz, retired Exelon executive Pamela Strobel and Carlos Tortolero, who's president of the National Museum of Mexican Art. Quinn today also reappointed trustee Edward McMillan, a southern Illinois businessman who resigned earlier this summer.

The governor says he followed some recommendations from the university's alumni association in picking new trustees.

Seven of the board's nine members quit over the university's admissions scandal.

James Montgomery and Frances Carroll refused to quit, and Quinn last week named Christopher Kennedy and Lawrence Oliver II as trustees.
