Quinn Gets Endorsement of Teamsters
CHICAGO (AP) -- A major union has pledged to put its "full weight" behind Gov. Pat Quinn's campaign to get elected to a full term as governor.

Quinn on Friday picked up an endorsement from Teamsters Joint Council 25, and the union's officials promised to put their more than 100,000 Illinois members to work getting Quinn elected.

Quinn faces a February Democratic primary challenge from Illinois Comptroller Dan Hynes. Quinn became governor in January when lawmakers ousted Gov. Rod Blagojevich from office.

The endorsement comes as Quinn's administration is embroiled in a dispute with another large labor union.

The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees represents state workers.

Quinn's office on Thursday announced it will move forward with plans to lay off state workers after AFSCME refused to reopen its contract to consider concessions, such as unpaid furlough days and a pay freeze.
