Police Searching for Drug Suspect
A Galesburg man is being sought by police after fleeing the scene of a meeting with his parole officer.

Galesburg Police reports indicate officers responded to 1198 Garden Lane just before 10:00 Wednesday morning to assist an Illinois Department of Corrections Parole Agent.

The agent allegedly was at the residence for a routine check on 38-year old Douglas Charles. When the agent arrived at the residence, Charles allegedly told two people at the scene to leave and take a garbage bag with them when the agent told them to leave the bag.

The agent says he then searched through the partially filled garbage bag and found methamphetamine, meth by-products and drug paraphernalia.

The agent then instructed Charles to stand up so he could be placed in handcuffs when he allegedly took off running northeast from the scene.

Officers were unable to locate Charles, who now faces a preliminary charge of Possession of Methamphetamine, while the agent advised police he will seek a Parole Revocation.

According to Knox County Court documents, Charles has had felony drug convictions in the past, including Possession of Meth and Cannabis.
