Legislative Commission Fears Double-Dip Recession
A couple of numbers in state government money look better, but don't get your hopes up. The August personal income tax amount went up by $47 million, and sales tax was up by $6 million, but the state legislature's Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability isn’t expecting that to be trend over the course of upcoming months, or a trend in other revenue sources.

In fact, word of a double-dip recession means the state's budget could be in the same sorry shape for another full year. COGFA executive director Dan Long says forecasting service Global Insight has increased its odds of a double-dip recession to 25 percent. If that happens, state budget talks won’t be able to include optimism about a recovering economy.
